Liverpool starlet Sheyi Ojo set for Middlesbrough loan as Newcastle struggle to agree deal
Middlesbrough are set to beat Newcastle to land Liverpool starlet Sheyi Ojo on loan.
Boro boss Garry Monk wants Ojo and Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is prepared to let the England Under-20 World Cup winger go out on loan to aid his development.
Newcastle coach Rafa Benitez is also keen on the 20-year-old as he seeks to boost his attacking options, but the Toon are struggling to agree a deal with Liverpool.
Alves on his move
Dani Alves has posted online about his decision to snub Man City for PSG.
He says he is prepared to face the consequences of his decisions and has an “insatiable thirst to be a champion”.
Oxlade-Chamberlain trains with Arsenal despite speculation
But Mirror Sport understands Chamberlain will not be leaving the club during this window.
The 23-year-old is currently on the Gunners’ pre-season tour down under and will hope to establish himself in Arsene Wenger’s first XI.
Riedewald at centre of three-way scrap
Ajax’s Jairo Riedewald is at the centre of a three-way Premier League scrap.
Crystal Palace, Everton and Newcastle are all battling it out to snap up the versatile 20 year-old Dutch international.
Reidewald, who can play as a centre-back, left-back and also a defensive midfielder, is valued at around £9m.
And new Eagles boss Frank de Boer could have a crucial advantage in the race to sign Reidewald.
He gave Reidewald his first team debut at Ajax in 2013 and later likened him to Dutch legend Frank Rijkaard.
Palace are also keen on snapping up one of England’s under-20 World Cup winners – goalkeeper Luke Southwood.
He was part of the Young Lions squad that triumphed in South Korea last month.
Palace will have to pay a training compensation fee to land the 20 year-old after he turned down a new deal at Reading.
Arsenal linked with Quina
Arsenal have been linked with a move for West Ham wonderkid Domingos Quina.
The 17-year-old midfielder was snapped up by the Hammers from Chelsea last summer and has impressed in the European Under-17 Championship for Portugal, turning in a man-of-the-match performance in their 2-1 win over the Czech Republic.
And Sky Sports report that the Gunners are one of a number of clubs in for the teenager, who was the winner of the Hammers’ Dylan Tombides Award for their academy’s best player last season.
Quina made his first-team debut in the Hammers’ ill-fated Europa League campaign, but saw an injury rule him out for the final stages of the campaign.
Costa arrives for Juve medical
Douglas Costa has arrived in Turin for his medical ahead of his move to Juventus.
The Brazilian winger has been deemed surplus to requirements at Bayern Munich following the arrival of James Rodriguez and is now on the verge of joining Max Allegri’s side.
The official confirmation of the deal is expected later today.
Tottenham sign McGee
Tottenham goalkeeper Luke McGee has joined Portsmouth on a three-year deal.
McGee spent last season on loan at peterborough and was hugely impressive, winning the Players’ Player of the Year award.
Assistant manager Joe Gallen said: “We’re very pleased to secure the signing of Luke. He’s come through Tottenham’s academy system and they’ve produced a lot of good players.
“He went on loan to Peterborough last season and picked up the Players’ Player of the Season award.
“And he’s also someone that Kenny knows about from his time at Tottenham. He was really impressed with him.
“It’s great that we’ve been able to bring in a goalkeeper who’s good enough now and is going to improve in the future.”
Does this mean they’re staying?
Arsene Wenger has insisted neither Alexis Sanchez nor Olivier Giroud will be leaving Arsenal this summer and the club’s new kit launch seems to back that up.
Both forwards were used, alongside Theo Walcott, as the models for the unveiling of Arsenal’s new third strip.
Sanchez has less than a year remaining on his current contract and is understood to prefer a move to Manchester City rather than extend.
When asked on Tuesday if Sanchez had asked to leave, though, Wenger replied: “No.”
He added: “The players have contracts and we expect them to respect them – that’s what we want.
“That is a continuation of what I said at the end of last season, that you wouldn’t sell him to another Premier League club.
Pereira desperate to prove worth ahead of make-or-break season
Last summer the 21-year-old was selected by the newly-appointed United boss for the pre-season trip to China, only to join Granada on a season-long loan later that summer.
Pereira was unable to prevent the Andalusians suffering relegation from La Liga despite impressing on an individual level – form he is determined to continue at Old Trafford.
Taken to the United States on this summer’s pre-season tour, the versatile midfielder wants to make an impression on manager Mourinho.
Januzaj deal to be completed today
The winger, who spent last season on loan at Sunderland, was left out of United’s pre-season tour of the US ahead of his permanent switch.
Januzaj, 22, made a promising start to life at Old Trafford and was promoted to the first-team squad by Sir Alex Ferguson towards the end of the 2012/13 season.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is reportedly set to sign a new Manchester United deal after astounding the club’s medical staff by his recovery from injury.
The Swede suffered a serious knee injury in the Red Devils’ Europa League win over Anderlecht in April and was expected to be out of action for the rest of the year.
But according to the Sun, the 35-year-old is well ahead of schedule following surgery and could be fit again by October – when he could sign a short-term deal with the club until the end of the season.
Ibrahimovic was released by the Old Trafford side this month, after they declined to take up the optional second year on his two-year contract.
Liverpool eye Correa?
Liverpool are reportedly plotting a move for Atletico Madrid forward Angel Correa.
French outlet Foot Mercato reckon that the Reds have offered the 22-year-old a five-year deal worth £2.4million per season as they look to further bolster their options up front.
The Argentine netted eight times and provided 11 assists last season, often playing on the wing or in midfield.
A fee may be a sticking point however, with Atletico wanting £24.7million for him. Diego Simeone’s side are currently under a transfer ban, which means they would not be able to replace Correa during the current window.
The key to United’s Dier move?
Eric Dier may have grown up a Manchester United supporter when Sir Alex Ferguson held the reins.
But it’s the current manager who may hold the key to a move to Old Trafford for the Tottenham midfielder.
The Manchester Evening News say while Jose Mourinho has made Dier a top midfield target the feeling is mutual for the player.
A move Dier was always considered complicated by Old Trafford’s hierarchy, with Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy a notoriously hard negotiator.
But Dier’s interest in working with Mourinho could prove decisive.
The 23-year-old could double his wages with a move away from Spurs, where he currently earns around £70,000-a-week.
West Ham fear the Premier League will block transfer of Inter Milan starlet
West Ham are keen to sign Inter Milan wonderkid Gabriel Barbosa… but are worried they will be lose out to red tape.
The 20-year-old Brazilian forward — nicknamed Gabigol — is available for loan, just a year after joining Inter from Santos in his homeland in a £26million deal.
His lack of game time for the Italians and his country, however, could wreck a potential switch to east London.
Barbosa made just one start among 10 appearances in Serie A and the Coppa Italia, scoring once. Although he has played three competitive games for Brazil, none of them have come in the last 12 months.
West Brom among 20 clubs leading the chase to sign Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma
The Baggies are pushing hard to win the race for the Blues’ French defender.
But they face serious competition with over 20 clubs having registered their interest the 22 year-old.
The champions are prepared to loan Zouma out for the season to help him rediscover his form and fitness after a serious knee injury.

Midfielder Herrera has become a key player under Jose Mourinho, with United willing to reward his new-found importance with an improved deal.
Herrera has attracted interest from Barcelona and Atletico Madrid, with United keen to tie him down to a new deal to ward off potential suitors.

Manager Jose Mourinho wants to make the 28-year-old attacker his third big-money signing of the summer, following the arrivals of Benfica defender Victor Lindelof and Everton striker Romelu Lukaku.
Inter want £50m for Perisic, but United are only willing to go to £45m and are hoping their take-it-or-leave-it final offer will see the deal go ahead.
Perisic, who has joined up with Inter at their pre-season training camp in northern Italy, wants his club to sanction his move to Manchester as quickly as possible.

Barcelona move for Vitinho
Barcelona have signed Vitinho from Palmeiras on a season-long loan deal.
The attacking midfielder, 19, will join Barca B and the Spanish giants have an option to make the move permanent.
Palmeiras boss Cuca said: “When a team like Barcelona come, you have to be happy with what you’re doing.
“If he goes [permanently], brilliant, if he comes back, he will do so with more quality.”

Wagner effect tempted Tom to Huddersfield
Tom Ince claims David Wagner’s brand of football was one of the main reasons he moved to Huddersfield.
Ince, who joined the Premier League newcomers from Derby earlier this month, said: “They were by far the best team we played last year.
“The way he played suited me, I felt. It is not similar but along the same lines as how Steve McClaren played, that expansive attacking football, wanting his forward players to have freedom to play.

El Haddadi scored six goals during a season-long loan with Valencia last season.

Leeds have completed the signing of Italian striker Caleb Ekuban from Chievo.
The 23-year-old signed a four-year deal after passing a medical to become the Yorkshire club’s sixth summer signing.
He travelled from Italy on Monday night and has sealed the switch in time to travel on the pre-season tour of Austria later this week.
Wolves hunt down Cambridge keeper Norris
Wolves have completed the signing of goalkeeper Will Norris from Cambridge.
The 23-year-old has joined for an undisclosed fee and signed a three-year deal, with the option of another 12 months.
He is expected to be understudy to fellow new arrival John Ruddy.
Norris said: “This is a fantastic opportunity at a fantastic football club and was something I just couldn’t say no to.
“I have been playing regularly for Cambridge over the last 18 months or so and now know I have a battle for a place, which is a great challenge.”
